I am pretty convinced that there will be a great number of people willing to take the domains as finding a new domain is a bit difficult these days with the existing top level domains, especially when one is looking for personal blog. I think that possibly it may be a good idea to have a .blog but most of the blogs that I personally find worth reading are from those who own their own studio so they will simply add a blog link on their main studio page anyway.
